ULTRAPERF® TECHNOLOGIES Inc. was incorporated in 1999 and is located near Montreal, Quebec. ULTRAPERF® has been supplying life extension packaging films and bags to the produce industry in North America since 2004, following the commercialization of its proprietary technology.

Ultraperf films are processed with a unique technology enabling the finished packages to match gas transmission to the respiration of each fruit or vegetable. This creates the optimum level of oxygen, carbon dioxide and moisture inside the package, which is key to signifcantly extending produce life, freshness and quality.

ULTRAPERF® is focused on providing highly effective modifed atmosphere (MA) packaging solutions for the produce industry, and is constantly striving to develop new and unique products that extend the life, freshness and quality of fruits and vegetables.

Ultraperf Technologies provides a large range of life extension flexible packaging to package fruits and vegetables. Extending the life of fresh fruits and vegetables is achieved in part by providing packaging that has a similar gas transmission as the specific produce item to be packaged. This is commonly referred to as OTR, or “oxygen transmission rate”. Micro perforating plastic packaging films with micro holes that are approx. 40-80 microns in diameter will enable the package to “breathe”, enabling oxygen to come into the package and let carbon dioxide out at specific amounts. This creates a modified atmosphere inside the package, also referred to as MA. Modified atmosphere (MA) packaging, created through micro perforation of plastic packaging films is the most effective way to allow for the precise exchange of oxygen (O2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) and some moisture which are the 3 key components to extend life and quality of fruits and vegetables, or produce. Micro perforated films will respond better to the increased respiration of produce at retail temperatures than a non perforated film. Ultraperf micro perforated modified atmosphere packaging will ensure that the produce packages will not become anaerobic.

Ultraperf also produces a 250K OTR film, (oxygen transmission rate) used to package case ready fresh or frozen fish in various types of trays for retail sale. The 250K OTR film allows 250,000 cc of O2 to pass through the film every 24 hours to ensure very high levels of oxygen inside the tray, providing a very safe seafood product to consumers.

Ultraperf 250K OTR film is available as a dual oven able lid film, a non cook lid film and as an overwrap shrink film.
